Citizenship & Naturalization Services

Becoming a U.S. Citizen

For many immigrants, becoming a U.S. citizen is the final step in a long journey — one that represents security, opportunity, and belonging. U.S. citizenship provides the right to vote, the ability to sponsor family members, and protection from deportation, along with countless other benefits.

At Agarwal Law Group, we are honored to guide clients through the naturalization process, ensuring every detail is handled with care.

Who is Eligible for U.S. Citizenship?

You may be eligible to apply for citizenship through naturalization if you:

  • Have been a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) for 5 years, or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen
  • Have maintained continuous residence and physical presence in the U.S.
  • Can demonstrate good moral character
  • Can pass an exam on U.S. history and civics and show basic English proficiency (with exceptions for age and disability)

The Naturalization Process

  1. File Form N-400 – Application for Naturalization
  2. Biometrics Appointment – Provide fingerprints and background check information
  3. Interview & Civics Exam – Meet with a USCIS officer, answer questions about your application, complete an English reading and writing test, and take the naturalization test (please note some individuals may be eligible for an abbreviated exam or an English language exemption)
  4. Oath Ceremony – If approved, attend a ceremony to take the Oath of Allegiance and officially become a U.S. citizen

Why Choose Agarwal Law Group?

Applying for citizenship may seem straightforward, but errors or omissions can cause serious delays or denials. Our attorneys:

  • Review your history to confirm eligibility and timing
  • Identify and address any potential risks, such as prior travel or criminal issues
  • Prepare you for the civics and English test with study guidance
  • Advocate for you throughout the process until you are sworn in as a citizen

We have successfully guided countless clients through naturalization — from first-time applicants to those facing complex challenges.
