If you’re applying for immigration relief under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), you do not need to include photographs of physical abuse for your case to be approved. While photos can be helpful, they are not required. USCIS reviews VAWA petitions based on "any credible evidence" of abuse.

This evidence can include personal statements, police reports, medical records, therapy notes, witness letters, and other documentation. VAWA cases often succeed without any photographic evidence, especially when the abuse is emotional, psychological, or financial rather than physical. It’s important to know that VAWA protections apply to more than just physical violence. Parents of U.S. citizen children can also qualify for VAWA protections.
