TPS Terminated for El Salvador

On January 8, 2018, the Trump Administration terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for citizens of El Salvador to be effective on September 9, 2019. TPS provides lawful status and work authorization to people already in the United States from countries affected by armed conflict or natural disasters. The TPS program for Salvadorans was implemented in 2001 after a series of devastating earthquakes struck El Salvador impacting living conditions and rendering job opportunities scarce. More than 200,000 people from El Salvador that are living in the United States have until September 9, 2019 to choose between two options: to seek an alternate basis to remain in the United States, or return to El Salvador.Current TPS holders may be eligible to remain in the United States through humanitarian, family-based, or employment-based immigration options. If you are a TPS holder and wish to explore alternate avenues to remain in the United States, please contact the Agarwal Law Group.
