Beginning August 19, 2024, the government will start accepting applications for the newly announced Parole in Place (PIP) program. 1. You must have entered the U.S. without inspection (i.e., without a visa or other form of legal admission) and currently have no lawful status.
2. You must be legally married to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024.
3. You must have lived continuously in the U.S. for at least 10 years as of June 17, 2024.
4. You must not have any prior deportations, certain criminal history, or pose a threat to national security or public safety.

This program does not extend to spouses of permanent residents, parents of U.S. citizens, or those who entered the country legally with a visa or other documentation.Documents to Start Gathering NowTo prepare for the application process, it’s important to start gathering the necessary documents early. Here’s what you should begin collecting:

1. Proof of Identity:

- Valid or expired government-issued identification (e.g., passport, driver's license) - Birth certificate with a photo ID

2. Proof of Marriage:

- Marriage certificate showing you were legally married to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024

3. Proof of Continuous Presence since June 17, 2014:

- Documents such as rent receipts, school records, medical records, financial records, and tax returns that prove continuous residence in the U.S. for at least 10 years

4. Proof of Spouse’s U.S. Citizenship:

- Your spouse's U.S. passport, birth certificate, or Certificate of Naturalization

5. Criminal and Immigration History:
