We are pleased to share another successful naturalization for one of our clients.
Naturalization is the final step in the immigration journey for many lawful permanent residents, granting them the opportunity to become U.S. citizens upon satisfying specific legal requirements. These requirements generally include holding a green card for a designated period, demonstrating good moral character, fulfilling continuous physical presence requirements, and passing the English language and civics examinations. The process also involves filing Form N-400, attending a biometrics appointment, completing an interview with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and taking the Oath of Allegiance.
In this matter, the client's naturalization application was filed in August 2025. Our team worked closely with the client from the outset, reviewing eligibility, preparing the application, and ensuring that all required documentation was submitted accurately and completely. We also conducted comprehensive interview preparation, reviewing potential questions and walking the client through the interview process in detail. This preparation allowed the client to approach the interview with confidence. We also represented our client at the naturalization interview.
The naturalization interview was scheduled for January 2026, which the client successfully completed following our preparation sessions. Upon approval, the client attended the Oath Ceremony in March 2026, where they took the Oath of Allegiance and officially became a U.S. citizen. The Certificate of Naturalization was issued shortly thereafter.
In total, the process from the filing of the N-400 in August 2025 to the issuance of the Certificate of Naturalization in March 2026 took approximately seven months. This timeline was notably shorter than the current average processing time at the client's USCIS field office, which stands at approximately 8.5 months.
It is important to note that naturalization processing times vary by USCIS field office and may be affected by case volume, individual circumstances, and other factors.
U.S. citizenship confers significant benefits, including the right to vote in federal elections, eligibility for a U.S. passport, and the ability to petition for certain family members under more favorable immigration categories. It also provides a greater degree of legal protection and stability than permanent residency. For many individuals, naturalization represents a meaningful milestone and the beginning of long-term security in the United States.
